Don’t get me wrong, I can take or leave online food shopping. It’s not something I particularly look forward to, nor is it something I fear or avoid. But lately, attempting the weekly shop from my laptop has become something of a competitive sport!
Having shopped with Ocado for over 10 years not to mention the fact that I pay a monthly fee to guarantee my weekly deliveries should have meant I was able to shop as normal. Or so I thought.
After days of struggling to access the site I received an unexpected email telling me Ocado were suspending their app and that in future, a queuing system would be put in place on their website.
Undeterred, I ventured onto the site to be faced with the prospect of a mere 12,644 people ahead of me in the virtual shopping queue, and a likely wait of more than two hours.
For me, this screenshot aptly sums up the chaos, confusion and unpredictability of the world we now find ourselves in. To everyone working hard to keep us safe and well, I salute you. Better days are ahead.
